This issue has nothing to do with east vs. west or one state vs. another. I believe speaking in those types of broad generic terms is generally meaningless. However, I do think LD has some points, as does Clem. The biggest variable, IMO, is how dense is the population of NSAs vs. potential volume of business in any given area. [I'm in CA, but my situation is very different from Clem's.]

Lots of good points have been raised here and each of us should pick and choose what makes sense to us to apply to our situations. Personally, I might even vary what questions I ask by who's doing the asking. But I do think it makes sense to at least get some of the variables established up front, especially scanbacks. I confess I forget to ask sometimes, too, and it annoys me when that isn't disclosed up front - whether or not I asked. Also, some of the questions on Clem's list I'd be more likely to ask the signer, especially if dealing with a ss. I agree they're not likely to have a clue about whether or not someone received a CD.
