I tend to think that the title and escrow companies will never buy into this. The fact being (at least here in CA) that real estate paperwork is often completely done online between listing agent/sellers side and buying agent/buyers side. This is perfectly legal, and very,very common; most of these professionals use Docusign which is the gold standard of online document signing. The glitch comes once the actual docs needed to close the transaction are in play. The title /escow companies here will not accept docusigned escrow instructions, etc. So nothing goes forward without wet signatures if it involves title and closing liability. I don't see them ever getting on board for all the reasons that have been posted in this and similar threads. ps. I agree that independent contractors will be squeezed out and that big companies will be only players for the most part. |
