 Re: notary self employment tax

I do my taxes with TurboTax and I didn't notice any changes on the exemption for self employment tax. You may want to point your CPA to the IRS website:

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/persons-employed-in-a-u-s-possession-territory-self-employment-tax

Scroll down to "Notary Income" and keep in mind that we can only exempt the $15 per notarized signature that we're allowed to charge in California. Travel/accommodation/extra services, etc. are not exempt. In other words, if you're paid $150 for a signing and there's only 4 notarized signatures in that package, you can only exempt $60 for that signing (4x $15 = $60).
