I've been using inkless thumbprint pads for 11 years and I'm very happy with them. I've never used any others. I hold it in my hand when the signer squeezes it between their thumb and fingers and then I close it right away (to keep from drying out), so mine have lasted me for several years each, as best I can remember. (I buy them from here and always have a spare on hand, just in case.)

Borrowers comment on it all the time because they think it's going to leave ink on their fingers, but it jumps rubs right off. You do have to have them apply the "ink" for each impression, however.
