I've investigated this pretty thoroughly, Joe. It is dangerous to put your car's electrical system at risk by trying to print from an inventer in your vehicle. I checked with my mechanic, and he suggested a small generator, or a power pack. I investigated both. I already have a big 2500V Honda generator here at the house if I lose power, it happens infrequently, rarely use it. If there's a fire, PG&E will cut service and the Honda Generator will keep the water pump going to I can protect my house.
There is a smaller generator, and the power pack costs around $300. Problem is it's just one more piece of equipment to load up into the back of the SUV and to maintain.
If I get into a crunch, I can stop into the library and hook up. Even print at FEDEX office. I scan all the time from FEDEX, but I don't think they'd allow a customer to come in with their own printer and print away, as they make a ton of money in this part of their services.
Keep us posted if you find another, better way to print. BTW, I have a 1320 HP laser printer that is light enough for me to haul around. I can also hook up at a client's home if necessary, and they don't mind. Most people have PC/printer at their homes, but may not have legal trays. |
