Writing as a CPA and Notary. I suggest finding the closest Small Business Administration (SBA) Development Center and and take their courses. The other part of the SBA is SCORE. When you have more experience with the SBA, then seek the services of SCORE. This is a government organization and they have reasonable fees for their courses. The courses include how to run a business and how to account for your income. This organization will also teach you how to use Quick Books or other accounting software.

The worse part of underpricing for your services is that the IRS might consider this a "hobby" and not a "business." If this is considered a hobby, then you do not get the same deductions as if it is considered a business. Hence, it is better to learn before you have the cost of fighting the IRS and/or state taxing agencies. If you don't know how to fight the IRS, then there would be an additional expense of hiring a professional to fight for your.

Finally, listening to the experienced notaries on this forum will help you understand why I posted this information. The notaries are a great source of information to make you a better business person.
