wouldn't have a problem with the variation. There's nothing that says the loan docs have to exactly match the ID. Most VA D/L's have the full name, and the docs might have their middle initial, for example. No biggy for me--I just need to make a judgment call as to whether it's the same person (not someone trying to pull something shady).
I had a conversation with a man yesterday when I was signing a refi for his home in CA. The pkg. was huge & extremely repetitious. He remarked that he's tired of how complicated CA seems to make everything (money in the pockets of all the lawyers--LOL).
You're in CA so you have to comply with CA law, of course.
