I don't know about your state. In my state it's just fine. About a month ago I went to my town clerk's office, had the assistant town clerk administer my oath of office as a Justice of the Peace, and file it in the town records.
You might find yourself in the following situation: Mr. A comes in, has you notarize a document, and file it in the government records. A few months later someone comes in and asks for a certified copy of the document. If you're one of the people in the office who can certify copies of records, you would be certifying a document with your name in it. When you certify the copy, you might be doing so as a notary, or as whatever other position you hold, depending on your state laws. Depending on your state laws, certifying a copy of a document with your name in it may or may not be OK. |
