I've rarely been asked to notarize an ack that was signed

in advance. I do always ask them to sign a blank sheet of paper & I compare signatures.
BTW, the term "Best Practices" is an XYZ thing. It's something they established, and there's a lot of it that only applies to CA law. I never considered it for that reason. I learned a long time ago that a lot of their information is wrong anyway.
