charging a travel fee. For GNW, the max fee per notarization is $5 in VA. I have a minimum fee with travel of $25, which is very reasonable. I quote my fee exactly that way, stating what the state notary fee is, etc.
I've had people tell me some have quoted them $75-$100, which is about the same as a loan signing. I think anything up to about $50 is acceptable.
I did install the Square app on my phone to process payments for GNW. It really comes in handy, even though I will let them know I prefer cash, especially for small amts. |
