It seems the only part anyone is interested in here is that

I find the story interesting & have never heard of anything like that. Again, CA laws are different about things like community property. I'm guessing that the husband decided he didn't want to give up his interest in the property & it may have been vindictive toward the x too. Either way it sounds like something dirty went down.
