Search engines (like Google and Bing) remember what you've searched for, and clicked on, in the past. So a new search will list things higher that are probably of interest to you, based on your previous searches. For example, if you have made many previous searches (at home) related to duck hunting, and then you search for "gun", the first few results might be for shotguns, while if someone searched for the same thing from a computer in a library, the first few results might be for pistols.
If you switch from one browser to another (say, from Firefox to Chrome) but use the same search engine on both, the search engine might not recognize you and might not take into account the things you searched for with the other browser. |
