Hi Claudine and all,
I think it is a tough balancing act when using the mobile app and automated email notifications we do use to schedule some of our closings. While it's true there may be times the order is blasted out to multiple tiers or notaries (typically a last minute assignment or at month-end when many signing agents are booked and we need to get exposure to multiple people quickly), usually the orders are sent out by notary tier one at a time for various intervals of time before going to the next group.
Tiers are determined by experience, closings completed, error history, performance feedback, responsiveness (faxes / post-closing help) and much more. Generally there are not more than 2 or 3 signing agents per tier in the top several tiers so those signing agents that have proven their reliability and work will have an opportunity to accept orders first.
Because this score is a static score, signing agents that have less opportunity will gradually work their way up to more and more assignments with positive performance. For example, in order to reward newer signing agents to our network, once they complete 10 closings with 0 errors their score is increased significantly to allow an opportunity for more signings.
Sometimes clients (title, lender, realtor) determine specifically who they want to use or not use so that plays a part also but there are many factors that go into play.
If you join our network with zero experience (with us that is; we typically require 2 years of other signing experience outside of us) it's reasonable to expect you'll have to "earn" your way up the ladder in terms of what is available to you. We feel this is not only respectful of our existing signing agents but also good business in that we have a strong history with our top tier notaries. So if you are new and don't see many or any notifications in the short-term just know they will come.
As we introduced technology in January that other title companies are about to use to manage their closings we expect volume to go up tremendously and increase opportunities to all signing agents.
