Similar thing happened to me once. The borrower got up from the table to get another pen, her's ran out of ink. Turned out she picked up a lead pencil (like an accounting pencil) and I thought it was black ink, it was so dark.
I had to erase all her penciled signatures and had her resign everywhere. They were in their 80s. This was ten years ago. I never forget the faux paux, it has lingered, a reminder to make sure the borrowers have the right color ink and ink, not pencil.
You're in fine company, Di. Sooner or later it happens to all of us. Don't feel so badly, don't sweat the small stuff. Glad the signers were so sweet about it.
