Jacqueline, in 2011, Oklahoma had a blizzard that dumped over 12"...not normal at all. I had a closing scheduled and my husband kindly drove me out to the rural area to close. Half way there the borrower called and said, don't try to get here. It's too dangerous. We went ahead, got there, slid all over the road, shuffled through the snow and completed the closing. Travel alone took over 3 hours.
Never received even a thank you from signing or lending company. Lukewarm thanks from borrower. IMO, it's not worth the extra efforts to get a job done in those circumstances. In the old days, if borrower had to go to the lender, would the loan officer travel to the office to close it? My gut says no. So, if faced with the same situation today, they would have to lose the lock, or the lender should have some sort of backup for acts of God situations. JMHO |
