The I'm a single mom statement was only in reference to the fact that I am the only breadwinner and that I won't be able to survive on the lowball fees, whereas obviously someone around me is able to take them. I say no to the lower fees, they have to get "approval" and 9 out of 10 times I don't get called back. That tells me notaries in my area are not on the same page with me so I'm getting backed into a corner. I either stay or find new work. I am an excellent closer or I wouldn't have posted. I'm not getting calls because of my work ethic, it's fee wars and just sucks.
I KNOW that I am the owner of my company and I know that I'm an excellent Signing Agent, but remember they hold the cards in this. I either take it or they move on to a notary who doesn't value themselves and the business as I do. That's the dilemma where I am.
Easy to say you won't work for low-ball fees but I have bills to pay so I guess I just am in a position of stay and take it. I do have companies that are more fair, but it's just not enough.
I was putting this out there to see if anyone else is facing the same thing. After 13 years doing this, it's just sad that it's down to this.
