At one of my signings today, I turned to the next page and realized that the document was not for my signers. Then I realized that it was for someone in another state. There were about five sheets for this person. I made a joke about someone putting the wrong papers with theirs and somebody is missing something. It appeared that my signers had all their papers. I double checked for any misinformation within the pages but didn't find any. Another notary was probably pulling her/his hair out. When the papers reach home again, I'm sure a preparer will be hoping to pretend it wasn't his/her fault but knowing it was. None of the papers had any identifying information except name, county and state. The signing just before it had the wrong length and width for the mobile home. We joked that a mobile home can't be 75 feet wide, can it? Maybe some really have width and length instead of length and width! After a general notarization today that took overlong because the signers were late, I was ready to rush to the one with the mobile home when I got a text that they had left out some papers. So I notified the signer and hurried home to print those last remaining sheets. When I got to my destination, those last papers had some tiny spots on them. After that, I went home and printed an entire set without any spots, but I had wiped down the drum and toner without finding the cause. That's when the printer informed me that the drum had a premature death. I did the signing without all the copies for the borrowers. They are graciously waiting for me to bring them over when my husband finds a drum in the big city since that kind is not sold here. At least I had pleasant conversations with humans, cats, dogs and goats. |
