Just a couple of other considerations about printers... For Brother printers, be sure to cost in periodic replacement of drums. Drums are included with each toner cartridge on HP printers. That makes them a little more expensive up front, but you never have to replace a drum in the printer.
As for dual tray printers? Again, a trade-off, perhaps. I started out with a single tray printer about 14 years ago (and in those days, it was common for them to overnight the docs to us), but have only used dual tray printers since. It's going to either save you time (if you try to print some pages on letter and some on legal) or money (if you print all on legal size. You'll quickly find that legal size paper is significantly more expensive than letter size. I love, love, love not having to worry about it!
Whichever way you go, I agree with the others that laser printing is a necessity, not just a convenience or time/money saver. It uses different technology that fuses the print into the paper instead of laying it over, like an inkjet. [That may not be exactly precise, but you get the idea.]
