Telemarketers now call from local area codes....they know most won't pick up if the call is from non-familiar area codes. When I answer a local call that turns out to be a robocall, I add it to my DO NOT ANSWER list - which is assigned a "silent" or "no ring" ringtone. I never hear those calls come in and see those calls in my log...long after the fact.
I do primarily GNW and typically get calls from out of state area codes - either the person has relocated locally or they're in my area handling business for a family member in a local hospital so I don't automatically reject calls from unfamiliar area codes. Some out-of-state attorneys have clients locally and will call me. Therefore, I don't block any calls....they just go to voicemail if I decide not to answer. Real people with legitimate mobile notary requests leave a message - telemarketers don't and those numbers get saved under one label - DO NOT ANSWER (silent or no-ring tone). |
