I initiated a call to the CFPB Whistleblower hotline in Washington, DC on Wednesday and left a message. I have not had a return call yet. Next, I'm going to be meeting with our SB County District Attorney. I've done a couple of refi's with her. She will be most interested. Orange county notaries should be meeting with your DA regarding all the flaky signing services doing business in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Santa Ana.
Laurie Manzanares put together an action plan and letter for collecting unpaid notary/signing fees. I don't believe she included the Compliance Officers for Lender and Title. These are key.
The purpose of the CFPB does not really extend to notaries. We are self-employed, outsourced contractors. I'm going to make my pitch any way. I'm also going to meet with our local senator about predator business owners.
It is the middlemen in our business, the deadbeat signing service owners all over the country, who remain unvetted by title/escrow and lender. They need to be vetted. Since January we have had 12 companies suddenly disappear with all the loot leaving a lot of debt in their wake.
BTW Mike Tomlinson hasn't raised even $1 toward his $18K gofundme.com/at-risk-disadvantaged-youth effort. I guess he blew through all his notary fees, and no much happening for him on Snapdocs as a subscribing notary looking for work.
Ahhh, too bad. His site has been up for almost two months and no donors.
And now I hear Lorrie Todd of American Signing Connection in Cumming, GA is squealing like a stuck pig because Peggy called her out for her outstanding and majorly delinquent signing fees totalling $375.
KEY LESSON HERE: DO NOT WORK FOR 1-2 and some 3 star companies. Do not delude yourself, you are no better than the next sucker who also won't be paid.
NOTARIES NEED TO STICK TOGETHER...get fees back to where they need to be, get paid timely, and only work for vetted companies. |
