Great question. Yes, there are LOTS of comments based on speculation and Incomplete info (the ID requirement being one of them). REMOTE notarization will ALWAYS be ELECTRONIC - an e-notarization by Necessity; but not all eNotarizations are done Remotely (TRUE). Seems some States are helping add to the confusion by limiting/restricting e-notarization to a "narrow" view of Personal Appearance (they want to be "in the game," but only Partially 
Also, did you see Michelle/AL 's post last year regarding personal experience?
p.s. I think a lot of notaries' personal perspectives (and not Fact) are contributing to the "blurriness." That is really the main reason I'm researching this topic --- due to so much misinformation I'm seeing. Once the "fire ball" gets thrown, all folks can think about is, "How do I dodge this thing?!" It's like The Martians are coming, The Martians are coming!
