Excellent point. Our only concern should be identifying the person. The sex of the person is just one more of the details under 'physical description' we use in that process. The reason this might be an issue for us, though, is when there appears to be a discrepancy. This is very possible when an individual in the process of transitioning. In California, for example, the DMV seems to be loathe to issue new DLs unless necessary. They don't consider a change of address justification (they just give you a little paper card to carry), but hopefully they'd consider a sex change good enough.
