"bad" check cashing question.
Posted by CJ of CA on 5/23/18 9:56pm Msg #593781
My husband has car shop (body, not engine). He has a sneaky customer. He told the customer that he is not releasing the car until he is paid in full. Customer says he is coming tomorrow with the check and a tow truck. We don't trust him that the check is going to be good, because he is sneaky. I don't want him to give us a bad check and then run off with the car. The check should be for about $6,000. My husband is TERRIBLE in small claims court. (He's an engineer type: good with his hands, not with his words). He gets the "deer-in-headlights", the other guy lies and we lose. So we don't want to go that route.

How can I get this check cashed ASAP? Can I take it to his bank and get it cashed? I have had signing services give me bad checks, and I have deposited them, only to find out days later the check was no good. By that time, the signing services are gone. I don't want that to happen here. Any ideas?
