Looking at the VA handbook, I see that "verification on oath or affirmation" doesn't exist in VA, so in VA, it's just another oath or affirmation.
The phrase isn't "an official Verification OF an oath". What's being verified is the contents of the document. Of course, a guy could just write "The following document is true", sign it, and never go near a notary. Then it's an ordinary verification, and the guy couldn't be prosecuted for perjury if he lied. But if the guy goes to a VT notary in late 2019 and swears the document is true, and the signs it, it's a verification ON oath or affirmation. The notary will have to check the guy's ID and complete the notarial certificate. |
