I'm an emergency medical technician. As such, I am a mandatory reporter for elder abuse (including financial abuse). If the elderly woman were in Vermont, I would be reporting this to Vermont Adult Protective Services and the relevant police department, as required by law.

The law that applies to me always applies, 24/7/366. It doesn't matter whether I become aware of abuse while I'm acting as an EMT or doing something else at the time.
