I know exactly what you mean. I offer my notary services to those in Hospice at no cost because I feel that is a way for me to "pay it forward". But what surprises me the most is they want to give someone power of attorney - which is fine - but the recipient doesn't realize (until I tell them) that the POA is only good while the grantor is alive. I also ask about wills and if everyone in the room has one. When they say no I ask them why not? Why wait until times like this to "take care of things". So many of them have thanked me for that information and have said I never thought about it. Sad. |
