Paul Ryan sent out a tweet about a school secretary who he says was thrilled to open her paycheck and find an extra $1.50.
Ths is not a joke. She is getting $1.50 more per week.
According to Ryan, she said it would be enough to pay for her yearly Costco membership. Ryan, not recognizing sarcasm when it stares him in the face, apparently thought this was an example of how the Trump tax cuts were already benefitting the middle class and tried to sell it as such.
The Internet laughed at him so much that he deleted the tweet several hours later. However, the Internet has an infinite memory - this stuff is archived almost immediately. You can be sure that tweet will find its way into opposition campaign ads as we get closer to November.
How far out of touch with reality do you have to be to think that $1.50 a week is going to make a difference to a middle-class family?
