You are correct, Moneyman. I did not click on your 2nd link. My apologies for my lack of thoroughness on that and posting the same link as you. I should've read your entire post -- including all links.
In response to sigtogo's post, I have no issue with clicking on a link from a known/frequent poster here. Moneyman has been on this forum for quite a while and I don't consider his posts and/or links as a security risk. jmo I was simply in a rush and failed to read his entire post. Again, my apologies.
Insofar as Moneyman's question regarding my thoughts on the topic:
I like Newsom. I've voted for him. I believe his appointment of Butler was to fulfill a promise he made to appoint a qualified Black woman and that he did not want to appoint someone who is running for election for that seat. I further believe this was a faux pas on his part -- to appoint someone who is no longer a resident of California. She was a resident a couple of years ago. She may be very qualified. She is a Black woman. She meets most of the criteria ... with one small point -- residency. Yeah, I understand a loophole exists in our State Constitution to enable this appointment. However, I also believe there must be other Black women who are residents of this State that are also qualified and are not currently running for that seat. Thankfully, this is only a temporary appointment and the election for that senate seat is in 2024 and Butler has stated she's not runnning for that seat.
