"The reason why the stones form in the first place isn’t known. A few factors have been associated with a higher risk of having these stones. These include: taking medications, such as blood pressure drugs and antihistamines, which reduce the amount of saliva produced by your glands (nix for me) being dehydrated, as this makes your saliva more concentrated (yes, I sweat a lot when fighting colds/flu) not eating enough food, which causes a decrease in saliva production" (I couldn't eat for a couple of days".
When you start asking around you may be surprised the people who have had this problem. A lady who works with my wife has a son who just went off to college. He would barely drink water and preferred to drink mainly milk. Pretty dumb. Guess what he consistently got? Stones in his glands.
It was interesting when the Doc pulled up a screen and it said the main chemical cause of stones is calcium/magnesium. I have been taking ths as a daily supplement for 45 years. It has many benefits and I have never had a problem. But off it for now.
I believe it was a combination of all. I drank a ton of water but that doesn't make the salivary glands do extra work. The Wellness is tried and true. Have used it off and on for over two decades and many people swear by it. The latest concoction which is all herbs did seem to have an extra drying affect on me. I don't think that was the main cause however.
Seems like fresh lemon is working well for me and swelling is going down. But I'm still not sure about how these stones are supposed to go away. I have none of the other symptoms (some ugly) mentioned in articles.
Time will tell, and now you know how to prevent it. Nothing worse than thinking you just got lymphoma or something dreadful like that. |
