So, in reality, there is no longer an Old Republic approved list. As long as you are snapdocs verified and set yourself up for vendor pay, you are an approved ORTC notary. From what I am understanding, that's where it is today.
The biggest problem I have is with ORTC telling us what our fee is going to be. They are charging the borrowers $175 but paying the notary $150. As an IC **I** set my fees. I'm wondering how the IRS would take to this "independent contractor" relationship where the IC has no say in what their fees are.
Currently, the office I work with is not requiring me to go through snapdocs...yet. I am not snapdocs verified nor do I wish to be. Their local notaries had to take a cut in pay from $175 per file to $150.
I sure hope that this is not the direction that ORTC continues after feedback. |
