The norm in our industry for the past decade or more has been $xxx.xx and paid within 30 days. If you are working for less than that and more time, maybe you can go after these companies and make a change, since you are an attorney.
Nobody cares if that SS has a bad day, their dog died, or falling on tough times. That is their issue, making it your issues. A professional doesn't make excuses nor should a processional accept them. We all have to pay bills on time or lose our credit and credibility in the real world. The CC company could care less why you are late on your bill, and will go after you. Why are we different in sating "oh well..."?
I do agree, the contractual agreement is between the SS and the NSA...the lender or title company has nothing to do with it. All this bad mouthing, and "how would you feel if you got stiffed" means nothing. They have so many days to pay, then start sending certified lenders and follow up, or just write it off. Nobody on either side cares why they didn't pay or hear excuses of what's happening.
Maybe you can represent some of these NSA's, and on your legal stationary for a small fee and write a professional "attorney letter" and help them out in collecting. Your Attorney Stature puts you in a higher advantage than most, and they won't mess with you. On the same time, if you can help some of these NSA's here as representing them in collecting by sending a simple form letter certified, it could be a win/win for both. Smile
