Maybe you could ask whom ever is representing those borrowers if they would ask the borrowers to return the copy of your driver's license?
I would let the borrowers know that my request of their IDs is being made on behalf of the title company, lender or who ever is requesting the copy. Also, that it is part of the requirements in order to process the loan.
A collegue of mine said that she wouldn't even give signing companies a copy of her driver's license when asked. If it were me, I wouldn't ever give up my license to anyone. If the borrower was insisting on seeing my license and/or making a copy, I would refer them to who ever is representing them. Also, I would politely tell the borrower that it was my own personal information and they weren't entitled to it. (Of course not in those exact words)
This is my opinion; let's see what others have to say.
