Sadly, there was a time when I COULD count on him to have my back and I wouldn't have given a second thought to take on a second trip (if required), even without being able to contact him. (If something is my fault, of course, I would do it on my own dime.) But when he started trying to negotiate with me on some stuff, that was a red flag.

This should be fair warning to anyone who thinks they want to become a signing service. Even those with good intentions can run into problems.
