. . . and I typically have my telephone at my side at all times so as not to miss any business, especially on EOM day. However, Jacob is an independent contractor and works for himself so if he decided to take the rest of the afternoon off and hang out with his buddies at happy hour . . . more power to him! Everyone deserves a little time off to enjoy life and if he didn't care about missing EOM business, neither should anyone else.
I personally think that if Jacob knew he was going out with friends to drink . . . on EOM day when he may be called for last minute signings . . . he should have just turned his telephone off and not taken any calls. I think it was pretty stupid of him to answer his phone at all for clients when he is sitting in a noisy bar drinking with his buddies knowing full well he would be in no position to accept any business anyway. It would not matter what he told his clients, the truth or alternative facts, it would not have been too hard to figure out he was in a bar drinking. He should have just left his cell phone in his pocket, enjoyed his evening with his buddies, and answered his phone when he was ready to start accepting assignments again. |
