Your suspicion makes lots of sense to me, if correct. If that's so, then the selling owners were just interested in making the business look as good as possible in their financial statements with little concern as to the long term consequences. They probably just wanted the business to be valued as high as possible. Frown

I'm sure that type of thing happens in tons of different industries.
