The sentence quoted above didn't make a lot of sense to me, either (although the part about there being so many other more important issues out there did), and I agree the above poster does have a point. But from what was in the original post, all we know about this gentleman (aside from what was publicly broadcast in the news about him) is that he had a notary visit him sometime in the past few months. From the OP, I couldn't tell you what type of transaction he was involved with or what city he lives in, or anything else, really.

I agree that we need to respect the privacy of those with whom we meet and that we can and should leave personal details out of our messages. However, in this particular case, I don't see where any harm was done and who he is is what the story is all about. The gentleman was rightfully proud of the honor he's received - and one of our own got the chance to share in his recognition in a very small way - and chose to share it with us, as well. Personally, I thought Notarydi/CA showed good discretion in what she disclosed and did not disclose.
