I hate to say it, but I believe SnapDocs is part of the problem. IMO, they have facilitated people/companies like this with getting away with poor business practices. Their system puts you at arms length from the actual client, which can make it difficult to vet them and get the information we all should have about a company (like a physical address, good contact info, etc.) before accepting an assignment. With proper vetting, those resources should be unnecessary.
BTW (and this is just a little nitpick for the record), unless you're using an accrual accounting system vs. a cash system, which most of us do, we don't technically 'write off' a non-payment. I realize you may have just meant to write it off your books, but I thought I'd mention this since so many are currently working on their taxes... |
