When I had to have my signature notarized for my commission, my coworker at the bank did not put me under oath. When I mentioned her error, she merely shrugged and said, "Oh well." And the thing is, she had just become a notary herself and was well aware of the law. For shame.
It's not a difficult thing to do. I think many notaries just feel self-conscious doing it. But it is, indeed, the law. |
