Depends on the receiving agency of that document - and what their legal dept wants. If there are NO notarial certificates after the signature lines, or no separate loose leaf certificates included, YOU AS THE NOTARY SHOULD NEVER MAKE THAT CHOICE. Ask the client if there's an instruction sheet with the document. Oftentimes, there is, or the doc will have sticky tabs pointing to the notarizations. If not, do they have a contact person they can call to get guidance.
If it's after business hours and no one for the client to contact, then the client will have to decide if they want to postpone the appointment to get proper instructions from the agency or if they want to proceed with the appointment, foregoing agency instruction. If they want to proceed, it's THEIR choice as to whether each signature line will have a notarial certificate or there's ONE certificate at the end of the complete document representing the witnessing of ALL signatures by this SAME signer within said document.
If client wishes to proceed without instruction from the receiving agency of the doc, you should make it crystal clear that if the document is rejected by the agency apart from notarial error, there's no refund. Be clear that the client's choice in the number of notarizations they choose is not NOTARIAL error.

Always replace a pre-printed non-compliant certificate with a compliant certificate. Regarding your last question of "just one at the end" - Best practice, with PRE-PRINTED certs is to just replace them as they are on the inside of the document. |
