We need to understand that late documents are not the SS or title's fault - let me say "typically". Sometimes they are. But this goes back to the lender getting the docs to the t/c who then gets the docs to the SS or directly to notary. Docs not arriving in time are the bane of our jobs. I have never even thought to charge for docs that didn't get to me in time. For me, this falls under the cost of doing business. No one wants this signing to fail. If I am pinched, I let them know I have to turn back if I don't have the docs by a certain time.

I have cut way back on jobs I take. I have had too many times where docs don't come in and that impacts my next job. If I get a call last minute, I always ask if they have to docs, if not I don't take it.
