I don't know that the statute of limitations applies when a company folds its tents and then opens up again several years later under a different name. Depending on how they've structured it (using an LLC for example), I think your claim is against the company rather than against the person behind it. If the company went bankrupt, the debts were discharged - I'm not sure there's any way to resurrect them, although I may be wrong.
