You did the right thing. It's a tragic situation, and you were not prepared either. I have been to closings like that. When we get to talking, they open up and cry and such, but the truth is, they are releasing the pain, not holding it in. Sometimes we take it as we brought up a sore spot, but the truth is opening up to someone outside is really a good therapy for for them. I usually give them a big hug, and some reassurance some how it gets better. Heck I think I even cried once about our pets and had to put my dog down, and they had an older struggling dog going to be put down, and it just caught us both off guard. We all have our moments and human. It's bad when we do it, but sometimes emotions run strong, they hit home for all of us when we connect with individuals. I really think it makes us truly a genuine person, and the people we share our stories with or we listen to theirs is what makes us so great at what we do.
