LisaKT/CA seens dubious about believing that Mary Susanne Jones-Smith and Mary S. Jones are the same person. I'd be dubious too, if all I had was a driver license saying Mary S. Jones and Ms. Jones' word for it. But I could accept the word of a mutual friend (administering a credible witness oath to the friend), which is a no-no in CA because Ms. Jones possesses a driver license. Or, after July 1, the law in my state will explicitly say if I'm in doubt about the driver license, I can examine additional documents to resolve the question, like the divorce decree, or the town's grand list showing Mary S. Jones as the property owner. CA notaries on this board often express the view that they can only look at ID on the approved list, and can't supplement them with other forms of ID.
