The driver problem is not as bad as it was when Win 10 was first released. Most manufacturers have released drivers that work with Win 10 - some didn't have to because Win 10 was SUPPOSED to be backward compatible with Win 7 - so the first place to look is the manufacturer's website.
As Ernest said, searching for a generic driver can be risky business - you might find the driver you need, but it might come with unexpected "bonuses". Logically, if a generic driver existed that would work with a particular printer, the manufacturer would be aware of it and would make it available rather than spending resources on reinventing the wheel.
If a driver for a specific printer is not available on the manufacturer's website, a call to customer service might yield a solution. If their only solution is that you should buy a newer printer, then you could go on a search. You just need to make sure that the site you found the Holy Grail on is reputable, or a missing printer driver could become the least of your worries. |
