 Re: Just a heads-up - Signature Closers

Hi Rebecca,

Please email me your concerns / questions directly. The test is not a static document and I want to evaluate questions we deem to be inaccurate or unclear. I did approach Mark about the Reverse Mortgage question in particular previously but probably lost sight of it in the review of 50+ questions (we requested at least 7-8 changes already). It's certainly not a perfect test or perfect course but I can say that about any training I've seen in the industry.

Please note a few things (Rebecca and all):

1. No one is "forced" to take any certification. We view these certifications as valuable in the sense that you are willing to invest in yourself and without a clear industry-certification or training standard we're open to multiple vendors adding value.

2. We will NEVER require a training course that involves a renewal payment. There are companies that we partner with that want to introduce "renewal" or "registration" fees and we're just adamantly opposed to them. I can't promise that we won't promote partnerships (particularly tech companies) that may someday generate enough volume to drive a renewal fee but if it costs $50/yr to "register" with ABC Company but you get $1,000 worth of signings then I think that's a much easier pill to swallow vs. signing up for 10-20 companies at $50/each and seeing no business. That's not fair and not productive and we've fought that to this point. If they want to grow their partnerships in these early stages it certainly makes zero sense to us to discourage people from signing up.

3. The training videos will supplement any existing material and cover sheets provided. We ask our clients as a best practice to have a cover sheet but you can "lead a horse to water but not make it drink..." and so we also try to provide our own "MUST READ" PDF's when clients see specific needs or misses particularly if their cover sheet is less than ideal. We believe different people learn differently and we want to harness the power of technology and video to deliver "quick hits" of major misses we see often right before a signing. This won't be every file and likely will be for a small # of clients with unique issues.

As a general rule, if you call title using their cover sheet or ours before leaving any signing with issues I think we'd avoid a large deal of major issues. In addition, reviewing the "Major" docs like Deed of Trust / Mortgage, Note, RTC, and any Deeds or Riders that need recorded BEFORE leaving the signing would be huge. A missed stamp seems like a minor miss but it can delay funding, recording, etc. and can cost someone a lot of $ and time. A quick glance prevents this all as a best practice. "Okay everyone. I'm going to take a quick glance at the most important documents just to make sure we didn't miss anything before we wrap up. Thanks for your patience..."

Hope this helps!

Mark
