The signing services (plural) that get those fees are the ones who run an efficient business based on a solid business model, hire only the best notaries and work for the best tc's. They also know their worth and how to negotiate fees commensurate with the value they provide. Those are normal from many smaller title companies (obviously not the big settlement companies that are squeezing every dollar), whether they pay them to a signing service or to a notary they hire directly.
BTW, I'm sure many signing services are competing for business on fees these days - just like many notaries. But I wouldn't take their word for how much they're getting paid, regardless of what shows up on the CD. Once in a while, it doesn't tell the whole story - especially when notary fees aren't spelled out (which is most of the ones I see where a signing service is involved). |
