Well, perhaps it just wore out. Manufacturing tolerances can account for even the same brands and models to have different life spans.

I know from talking to you at other times, you had it installed correctly. I have gone through a couple on our travel trailer since 2004. We use one sometimes one while dry camping. The ones that went bad on me did drain the battery even while off. The one in my truck is 8 years old, still works. It has good ventilation, so I moved the replacement one for our trailer into a more open area so it would run cooler. Heat kills electronics.
