and even if I lived in the basement of the Probate Office, I probably would not look (although I spent many years as abstractor) as----my signature has changed w/AGE and I sure wouldn't want anyone comparing my 1985 signature to my 2014 scrawl. Also, too frequently the guy has had something happen to his signing hand or fingers, which can affect a previous signature. If I am confident in the signer's identity, I am very careful about making judgments on their signature. 3 weeks ago, a gentleman had part of his finger recently sawed-off, and I gleefully noted it on the Notary Identification form "Comments". Too many borrowers comment how tired their fingers are after 25-30 signatures (w/dates). I just tell them to do the best they can. Thank goodness the Mtg/dot is never at the end of the pkg! |
