The address for The Notary Spot which shows up on Google 6709 Whitewing Dr., in Corpus Christi is bogus. I had two checks returned NSF, so I did the usual calling, leaving messages, being told he will call back, being told I will be paid through PayPal, etc. After 3 weeks, I sent Demand for Payment letters, certified mail/return receipt. I just received one back today, with the yellow USPS sticker, "Return to Sender, Not Deliverable as Addressed, Unable to Forward." The other letter was sent to P.O. Box 509, Seabrook, TX 77586. I haven't received the green card back yet, and actually don't have much faith that it will be picked up. I've contacted Corpus Christi Police Department to begin the process of filing a report. It is a criminal offense, Theft by Check" but there is a statute of limitations of 2 years. I've also called the Texas Attorney General's Office, (512) 463-2113, and received a return call from Pat Davis. I'm not out a ton of money, but doing nothing only allows for other people to have the same lousy experience. The link I've attached below is for Harris County (Seabrook, TX), Justice of the Peace Courts, specifically explaining the process of what is done in bad check cases. http://www.jp.hctx.net/checks/info.htm
I don't feel that it's inappropriate to call the Harris County District Attorney's Office, either. Check Fraud Section 713-274-0010
We all work hard for the fees we earn, and no one should be allowed to steal money and get to walk away without having to be held accountable. I will also be contacting the Secretary of State for Texas, Notary Public Unit: (512) 463-5705. As Notaries, we all swear to uphold the law and public interest. That has been severely violated, and we really have a duty to do something about it.
