The past two days in a row, I've received the following email, with the exact same content, from two different people:
"Hi,
I was looking to see if you were available for a notary signing on Saturday morning. This is for a structured settlement contract, and we pay around $175.00 per signing.
Please let me know if this is something you are interested in and I will provide the information for the signing.
Thank you,"
They were both from AOL email addresses (different ones, perhaps hacked?) and the second one didn't even add a name after the above. I hesitantly responded to the first one (asking for more info), on the chance that it might be legit, but never received a reply. When I got the second email today from a different name, it was a pretty clear indicator that someone's getting a little more sophisticated about targeting notaries. (At least it didn't have typos or terrible grammar...)
